ハヤテのごとく！/Hayate no Gotoku Chapter 413

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

Upon seeing the news that Ruka is having a comeback concert that night, Chiharu is going to give Ruka a call, but Hina stops her, citing the fact that it is only 6 in the morning. Kurosu makes note of the fact that Nagi is having a doujinshi competition with Ruka.

Later in the morning, Chiharu is unable to reach Ruka. Maria cannot reach Hayate and Ah-tan can’t get anyone to answer the phone at Yukari-chan House. Kayura manages to score three tickets to Ruka’s concert though. The group wants to rush back to Tokyo, courtesy of Maria’s jet, but Hina is not enthused about this at all. Isumi offers helicopter #5, but she is ignored. Kurosu offers Hina a lift in her Lamborghini as she has business in Tokyo, so Hina accepts. The group leaves, carrying the sleeping Nagi.  Left alone, Isumi calls Sakuya to come to Isumi for an emergency, so Sakuya has her butlers immediately prepare a plane for flight. Isumi is sure her #5 can do it.

Kurosu is a bit surprised that Hina doesn’t act all concerned over her rapid speeding in her car. Hina says she feels safer on the ground. Kurosu then asks about Ruka.

Nagi wakes up and finds it is night and she’s at Yukari-chan house. She looks at her storyboard and is happy to see that she really did finish it and that the story is good. Feeling determined to win Hayate back and defeat Ruka with this, Nagi decides to run her storyboard by Hayate. She hears him in the yard, so she races out to see him. When she does, she finds him embracing Ruka from behind and immediately remembers Kurosu’s words to her about the outcome of her doujinshi contest having possibly been decided long ago. Nagi hears Hayate tell Ruka that he will make her happy and feels the conclusion has already been made.

Thoughts/Review:

Har! I was totally wrong about Hata-sensei shifting the story over to Ruka this chapter. He did have Kayura score some tickets, so my prediction about the girls (at least Chiharu, Kayura, and maybe Hina) attending the concert would appear to be in order.

Anyway, I have to say that Hata-sensei really threw a curve here. Just when Nagi finally was getting her act together, she appears to be getting hit with the full blast from a double-barrel shotgun. I have to say that I just really felt bad for Nagi in that instance when she’s so happy to show Hayate her progress, only to have Hayate in an apparent romantic moment with Ruka. There are two ways Nagi could go — shocked/devastation at seeing Ruka and Hayate, then fleeing, or she could do the “go ballistic” comedy route and still run away, as she’s done in the past. Things appear to be set up for the former though.

So plot-wise, things should jump back to Hayate and Ruka’s time and whatever event has her saddened now. Maybe her manager is blocking her from being in the doujinshi competition.

Kurosu seems to know Ruka, or at least know of Ruka.  Either way, she is very interested in Ruka for reasons that would seem to be not related to Ruka being a star. Kurosu is still a big mystery of a character, so it is still wild speculation on her ultimate role in the plot.

Speaking of Kurosu, I got a laugh out of Hina being totally comfortable riding those high speeds with Kurosu, especially since Chiharu and Nagi both had problems dealing with Kurosu’s speeding.

Isumi showing up and offering the use of her 5th helicopter was funny since she was ignored. I also got a chuckle out of Isumi summoning Sakuya to come to Ise. I’m guessing Isumi is going to get Sakuya onto helicopter #5 to prove that it won’t crash, unlike the first four.
